Messerschmitt
Messerschmitt AG was a German aircraft and automobile company during the 1930s and 40s. It was founded by Wilhelm Emil Messerschmitt, nicknamed Willy Messerschmitt, during 1923. At first, the company built sailplanes, then they built gliders and small sport aircraft. Their first succesful design were the M17 and M18 which Messerschmitt sold to BFW (Bayerische Flugzeugwerke). In 1927, BFW and Messerschmitt merged under the name Messerschmitt. The company became one of the important aircraft company when it won a fighter competition during 1936 with the Messerschmitt Bf 109.
